O programie

In this Ethics & Leadership Association case study, learners explore what happens when a new leader enters an organization with the authority, confidence, and ambition to accelerate transformation—but begins moving faster than their understanding of the system they are trying to change. "The Leader Who Arrived Too Fast" follows John, a newly appointed senior leader at Organization X. The organization genuinely needs modernization: systems are aging, decisions are slow, and employees are tired of partial improvements that never fully deliver. John responds with urgency, launching rapid reviews, restructuring teams, and challenging long-standing processes. But as the pace increases, complexity is quickly labeled bureaucracy, caution is interpreted as resistance, and institutional memory is treated as an obstacle. Jane, a respected middle manager who supports the transformation, recognizes that some of the practices John wants to remove exist for important reasons. They carry lessons from past failures, protect stakeholders, and preserve governance safeguards that are not immediately visible to a new leader. The case examines the ELA Core Value of **Transformational Humility**: the discipline of listening before changing, learning before judging, and adapting when new evidence challenges initial assumptions. Learners will consider how leaders can distinguish unnecessary complexity from protective knowledge, apply the Integrity Model to transformation decisions, and treat organizational culture as valuable information rather than resistance. The case invites a central question: "When does urgency stop serving transformation and begin undermining it?"
