The ELS™ Assessments
-
Case study: strategic judgment in an approved Management Worlds simulation, if ready, or an ELA certification-specific case.
-
Knowledge–Understanding Exam: 40 scored open-response questions in 150 minutes through Aether.
-
360 Leader: observed leadership behavior, assessed using supervisor/governance, peer, and direct and indirect report feedback.
-
All three must independently pass; one confirmed below-standard result prevents certification for the current attempt.
-
Pass or fail: completed 360 results, SWOT, improvement plan and debrief, plus individual case feedback. See the ECO for full requirements.
How does N2X Labs’ Aether platform support the assessment?
ELA defines the domains, tasks, evidence requirements, scoring rubrics and decision standards. Aether delivers the knowledge exam and analyzes responses against those human-defined criteria. ELA remains responsible for all certification decisions, including review of the case study and 360 evidence.
The ELS™ credential is valid for three years. To renew:
-
Complete 24 hours of professional development during the three-year cycle
-
Include at least 12 hours in ethics or ethical leadership
-
Submit one short reflective case study demonstrating continued application
No new examination or 360 assessment is required under the current renewal policy.
